Qualification

Qualification for the GATE program in the Brentwood Unified School District is by the district administered CogAT only. All BUSD students were screened in the spring of third grade. If you are new to the district, please contact the GATE Program Coordinator at your child's school by email to have your child placed on the testing list to receive the CogAT screener. The screener is administered in the spring each year and takes approximately one hour to complete. Students scoring at the 90th percentile or higher will be invited back to complete the full battery of tests which lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours. Students scoring in the 97th percentile or higher will qualify for BUSD's GATE program. The CogAT is administered in the fall and spring each year. Students completing the test within 24 months may be retested.
