Open Enrollment

Opens: October 7, 2024 at 8am / Closes on November 1, 2024 at 9pm

Brentwood Union School District offers a diverse health benefits package.  Benefits are available to all employees who work four or more hours daily, prorated for hours worked.  We have three options for medical benefit coverage - Kaiser, United Health Alliance/Journey (accepts Sutter Doctors) and United Health Harmony/Journey.  Dental benefit coverage is provided by Delta Dental.  Optional vision benefit coverage is available through VSP.

EMPLOYEES MUST PARTICIPATE IN OPEN ENROLLMENT IF.....

  • You are changing medical insurance plans.

  • If you currently are enrolled in Sutter, you will need to complete benefit bridge electing a new provider.

  • You are adding or removing dependents without a significant life event.

  • You participate in BUSD medical insurance coverage and will be waiving your medical for 2025.

  • You have a Flexible Spending Account and/or Dependent Day Care Account. (They DO NOT roll over. All FSA Accounts end 12/31/2024.)

  • You want to add, change and/or drop and optional insurance coverage through Colonial Life.

  • You receive a Cash Option, cash in lieu of benefits, or waiving medical and will be waiving medical for 2025. Waivers and proof are good for the current year only. You still have to complete this process, even if you just waived your medical this October for 2024 New Hire Benefits.

  • You are eligible for medical coverage with BUSD but do not participate in it.

  • You are enrolling Family members into Dental. It is open this year for enrollment with benefits starting 1/1/2025. Please note, if you are under a 1.0 FTE and hired on or after 7/1/2020, please refer to the 2025 Health Benefits Table for your out of pocket costs for 2 party and family levels.

IF YOU ARE ENROLLED IN MEDICAL COVERAGE, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES FOR 2025.

Kaiser DHMO will have no changes.

Kaiser $15 and $5 copay plans will transition to one Kaiser $10 copay plan.

Sutter coverage will no longer be available. Providers on the Sutter Network are available through UHC Alliance.

UHC will have a $25 DHMO plan and the $20 copay plan.

IF YOU WANT TO ADD FAMILY TO DENTAL, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES FOR 2025 OPEN ENROLLMENT.

Dental is open to enroll family members into your dental plan with coverage starting 1/1/2025. Next opportunity will be during Open Enrollment 2029 for coverage to start Jan 2030, your child is currently 4 and will turn 5 next year, or, if you have a qualifying life event. Please note, if you are under a 1.0 FTE and hired on or after 7/1/2020, please refer to the 2025 Health Benefits Table for your out of pocket costs for 2 party and family levels.

WHAT IF I DONT COMPLETE OPEN ENROLLMENT, WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY MEDICAL COVERAGE STARTING 1/1/2025?

KAISER:

  • Kaiser DHMO plan will remain in current coverage

  • Kaiser $5 copay plan will transition to the Kaiser $10 copay plan

  • Kaiser $15 copay plan will transition to the Kaiser $10 copay plan

SUTTER: You need to complete Open Enrollment to stay with Sutter Doctors

  • Sutter $20 copay plan. You need to complete open enrollment selecting UHC Alliance $20 copay plan

  • Sutter $10 copay plan. You need to complete open enrollment selecting UHC Alliance $20 copay plan

UNITED HEALTH CARE (UHC):

  • UHC $20 Harmony copay plan will remain in current coverage

  • UHC $15 copay plan will transition to UHC $20 Harmony copay plan

  • UHC PPO plan will transition to UHC $20 Harmony copay plan
